I like the SX100 batteries, as you can get them at every shop around the corner, it's regular AA-size type. To recharge or not? Non-rechargeable batteries last longer compare to rechargeable, but on the other hand, with rechargeable type, you can use them again and again. I prefer to use rechargeable and take non-rechargeable as a backup, especially during travel, where batteries may go flat every minute.
I always carry two memory cards with me. My rule of thumb, think about how many images you will take then multiple it by 2, this amount of storage space you will need. Do the calculation for yourself. I'd recommend on using Transcend cards, as it is a reputable Taiwanese company that makes memory products since 1988. Their SDHC cards are rated by speed using different "classes" class 2, 4, or 6). Class 6 has the fastest read/write speed of 6mb/sec. BTW, SDHC means they upgrade the older SD cards to achieve greater data transfer speeds AND capacity than normal SD cards. Anyhow, last thing you'd like to happen is running out of storage on the card in the middle of the day. I like to protect my camera and to have some extra space for battery, card and more. Lowepro is always a sure choice. They have durable products. The D-pods 40, will carry the camera and few accessories nicely. Please subscribe to my monthly newsletter, Photo Tips Jerusalem.
